We are still accepting applications for our program, however they will be placed on a waiting list. Once a spot opens up we will be pulling from this list. What is a Paid On Call Firefighter Reserve?
|
Paid On Call Firefighter Reserve, or POC as they are commonly called, function in much the same capacity as fulltime career firefighter by responding to calls related to fire, medical, and other emergencies. As the name implies, being a Paid On Call Firefighter affords members the opportunity to be compensated for time spent on calls. Additionally, POCs are also paid for mandatory trainings. Paid On Call Firefighters can, after progressing through thier task book function, work as a “shift relief” firefighter. In this capacity, POCs work 12 or 24- hour shifts as a paid firefighter on one of the front-line trucks.

What type of time Commitment is involved with being a POC?
|
The time that you commit to being a reserve ( POC ) is largely up to you. The Department requires that each reserve firefighter contribute a 24 hours shift per month. This 24 hour commitment can be broken into two 12 hour shift a month.

What are some of the Minimum Qualifications for the Job?

Education and Experience
Special Requirements

Must be eighteen (18) years or older at the time of joining the Fire Department.

Must possess or be able to obtain by time of joining the Fire Department, a valid Arizona Driver’s License.
-
No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history within the past seven years.
-
Legally eligible to work in the U.S..
-
Must be able to read and write the English language.
-
Must be of good moral character and of temperate and industrious habits.

Must be able to meet department physical standards.
